Surf / Sea State: Big waves and chop

Distance Covered:

On water at 10:00 before waves slacken at high tide and already loads out. Forecast bit gusty so bigger wave board 94l with 4.2m. Swells/waves over mast high on outside and smooth, though inshore breaking more like head high though I didn't try to ride as too windy and hard to control as wind chop grew on waves in shore.
Gybes on out side worked ok, but on inside fell in several times in chop between waves so I kept out of main wave area as didn't want to fail there, but maybe I should have been more confident as less chop there so gybe better. Thought about smaller board but high tide with less wind at shore edge gybe area. Enjoyed hour but packed up as hand hurting after botched op and sailing not working so well. Felt sick when I got home so a bug on its way was telling me to give up.
Others thought it a fantastic day.
